The ISEE Test For Private (Independent Schools)

The ISEE is the first time students will be tested on knowledge that is presented in a format unlike classroom content.  This content tests strategy and reasoning rather than information and memorization. The ISEE is also over 3 hours long so endurance is one of the hurdles.  In order to proceed to the next level, students need to master these new skills in a nurturing and supportive environment. This becomes the foundation on which they build skills that will be used in the ISEE, PSAT, SAT, and ACT.

Public school students encounter this test as early as fifth grade if they apply to a private middle school and eighth grade when they apply to a private high school. Private school students in the sixth grade take this test to apply to a different middle school or in eighth grade to apply to a different high school from the one they are attending.
